Tomatoes are not in season and the grill is still under cover. But baked BBQ is still possible!
Peel and mince 4 cloves garlic. In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine garlic, 1 15-oz. can tomato sauce, 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey, 3 TB apple cider vinegar, 2-3 tsp. chili powder, 1 tsp. Apple Smoked Maine Sea Salt, 1/4 tsp. ground cayenne (opt.), and 1/4 tsp. ground cloves. Cook 5 minutes.
BBQ Baked Tempeh - Preheat oven to 350 deg. F. Slice or shred 1 lb. tempeh. Grease baking dish. Pour bbq sauce over tempeh pieces. Baked 30 minutes, reserving any extra sauce for serving.
BBQ Baked Chicken - Preheat oven 375 deg. F. Line baking sheets with sides with foil or parchment paper. Wash and pat dry 2 1/2 lbs. chicken pieces and place on baking sheets. Coat chicken with sauce. Bake boneless pieces 30-35 minutes or until done. Bake bone-in pieces 45-55 minutes or until done.
