November is a month to practice gratitude, to acknowledge and give thanks for the goodness in our lives. In our busy lives, especially during the holiday season, it can be easy to overlook little blessings and forget all we have to be grateful for. This Thanksgiving we encourage you to savor positive experiences and take time to reflect on the blessings of life. You'll be amazed with all you have to be grateful for whether it is a warm blanket, a satisfying meal, a beautiful view, or a house to call home.
Saturday, November 29, 2014 is Small Business Saturday! This day is all about supporting and celebrating local businesses and all they do for their communities. Many locally owned shops are offering sales, samples, and raffles. Check your local paper for details and specials in your area. Make sure to visit your locally owned shops this holiday season!
In connection with Small Business Saturday, we are offering 15 % OFF all locally made goods both Saturday and Sunday, November 29th and 30th. We have many unique, locally made products from children's books, to home goods, to specialty food items- many made right here in Maine! Featured products include tea towels from Madder Root, food slabs from American Stonecraft, utensils from Peterson Woodworking, preserves, jams and relishes from Northwoods Gourmet Girl and MUCH more! This is a sale you don't want to miss!
Our farmstand has a great selection of produce this week! We continue to have over a dozen varieties of apples, winter squash, onions, garlic, potatoes, radishes and more. From the greenhouse we have hearty kale and pungent mustard greens for braising and a zesty blend of fresh greens for salads!
The farmstand now has soup by the pound! Our soups are made with fresh ingredients sourced from our fields and other Maine farms whenever possible! Flavor possibilities are endless and change daily- this week we plan to make a vegetarian chili and a potato leek soup! Call ahead to find out the soup of the day! We are also serving our wood-fired brick oven pizza daily 11:30am-3pm. Our pizza is made from scratch and topped with farm fresh vegetables and cheese. If you haven't had our pizza yet, you are missing out! Call ahead for topping choices and to place your order!
Holidays call for candies and fudge! We have several fresh, homemade flavors of fudge this week. We have traditional chocolate walnut and for the more adventurous we have a lemon-almond fudge or a pistachio-cherry fudge! We have traditional, homemade Needhams- a chewy, potato-based coconut candy hand-dipped in dark chocolate! For the first time we have brought in organic candy canes, chocolates from Bixby & Co and caramels from McCrea's in flavors ranging from Truffle Sea Salt to Holiday Spice. Make sure to check out our candy collection this holiday season!
