We have a great selection of Heritage apples this week! Black Oxford, Cox's Orange Pippin, Honeycrisp, Egermont Russet, Golden Delicious and more are all fresh and available in the farmstand this week. We are particularly happy with the Black Oxford crop this year. They are a shy, biennial bearer, with alternating years of good crops. This is a good year. We were even able to offer these beauties to our wholesale customers- a first for us! We also have a great supply of local's favorites such as the Cortland, Mcintosh, Red Delicious, and more. Pick-Your-Own Apples is open everyday from 10am-5pm. We offer free wagon rides on the weekends too! This week we are offering McIntosh, Cortland, Red Delicious and Golden Delicious to our You-Pick customers! We plan on having Mcintosh, Cortlands, and Golden Delicious at least through October; and Red Delicious will be open at least 2 weeks depending on availability.
Have you had our pears? We grow both Asian and European Pears here. This week we have several varieties available in the farmstand. Asian Pears are very crisp and juicy with a sweet, honey-like taste. Available Asian Pears include Shinseiki, Shinku, and 20th Century Pears. Thanks to a great article in the Portland Press Herald our Asian Pears are moving fast- make sure you get your taste before they are gone! For those that enjoy a more traditional, European Pear we have Staceyville and Vermont Beauties available. Our Bosc Pears should be available within the next week or so.
Cider is being pressed weekly! We have gallons, half-gallons and pints available in the farmstand! We are also offering hot mulled cider by the cup- the perfect way to end a day of apple picking. If you haven't had our cider, you are missing out. We use only hand-picked apples selected by our orchardist for their taste and texture profiles. We then mix varieties that compliment each other well. Every batch is unique in taste depending on the season. Our cider is also UV treated and unpasteurized.
Make sure to stop in the farmstand this week- even if you up just to pick! We have an abundance of fresh veggies, apples, oils, cider, and more for your table! There is a great selection of dried beans, carrots, potatoes, beets, leeks, and more! We have over a dozen apple varieties available- many you can taste before buying. Make sure to check out the Fiore Oil display too! We have so many flavors! New to us is the Roasted Pumpkin Olive Oil and the Wild Mushroom & Sage Olive Oil. Both are bursting with fall flavor and compliment salads and roasted vegetables very well. All Fiore Oils are available for sample before purchase.
Fresh from the orchard this week we have an abundance of apples, Asian pears, and plums. We have several varieties of apples including the ever popular McIntosh and Cortland, as well as Heritage varieties such as the Honeycrisp and Cox's Orange Pippin. More and more apple varieties come in everyday. New this week is the ever popular Honeycrsip- a sweet, tart, and firm dessert apple. The Honeycrisp is fairly juicy and has a pleasantly soft crunch. We also have daisies, lamb's ear, asters and more to compliment your display or plant before the frost comes.

Our bakers have come up with the perfect, single serving pie! These adorable little pies are loaded with our apples and have a bit of a thicker crust. Many people's favorite part of the pie is the crust, making our mini pies ideal. They also require no cutting and can be enjoyed almost anywhere. You can enjoy a pie at the summit after your hike, after apple picking at the orchard, and even on the go. Flavors will change weekly and seasonally. Our standard pies are still available for those who wish to share! Call ahead for flavors and availability.

Early-season apples are in! We have a great selection including Lodi, Orange Sweet, Pristine, Jersey Mac, William's Pride, Red Free, and Vista Belle. The Orange Sweet and Red Free apples were just harvested this week. The Orange Sweet is a buttery, yellow heirloom apple with a sweet, fine-grained flesh and good crunch. The Red Free is a sweet, juicy apple, perfect for those that don't like the early, tart apples.

Maine Apple Sunday is September 13, 2015! Join us in celebration of Maine's apple harvest and heritage. From 10am-2pm come up to meet our Orchardist, Scott Miller. Learn about and taste different apple varieties grown here at Pietree, enjoy free apple crisp, go apple picking and take a shot at naming the ME8256 apple! The ME8256 is an apple developed by the University of Maine in the 50's and it needs a name! We will be taking suggestions from the public from 10am-2pm. All suggestions will be reviewed by our panel of esteemed pomologists and the new name will be chosen and revealed by late November 2015! The winner will receive a prize! This is a rare opportunity for the public to participate in naming an apple, an apple that was developed in and for the state of Maine.
We have a great selection of summer produce this week. Our first harvest of new potatoes- both French Fingerling and Red Gold- are available at the farmstand. Carrots, kohlrabi, broccoli, cabbage, peas summer squash, cucumbers, and more are available fresh in farmstand. You must try the Salt & Pepper Cucumber. This pale yellow cucumber is great fresh and pickled! Don't be fooled by the color- when they are mature they have a pale, yellow flesh with a crisp texture and good heirloom flavor. Use it in salads, cold dishes or as a garnish.
Apple season is here! Many people don't start thinking about apples until the weather cools down and the leaves drop. We think that is unfortunate as so many early-season apples are delicious and worth trying. We started picking apples about 4 weeks ago. The Lodi was the first to harvest- a tart apple that is great in sauce, salads, or sandwiches! Soon after we harvested Jersey Macs, Vista Belles, Pristines, and William's Pride. All are now available in the farmstand. We offer sample baskets of each apple so you can decide which early-apple you like best.
We are happy to offer potted herbs and flowers this season! We have a great selection available on the front porch all potted and ready for your home enjoyment. There is nothing like using fresh herbs, cut moments before, to add flavor to your meals. We have sage, thyme, parsley and more. We also have a great selection of perennials for your garden including daisies, yarrow, salvia, mums, lamb's ear and more!
Thank you all for the wonderful PYO Blueberry season! Our blueberry fields are officially closed but you can still come pick beans daily from 10am-2pm. There are 3 varieties of beans to pick- Provider, Wax, and Royal Burgundy. Beans are just $1 per pound for PYO! We plan to open the orchard for PYO apples Labor Day Weekend. Apple season is here! Our first apples were picked last week! Lodi apples were the first to harvest. They are very tart and are a terrific sauce or fresh salad apple. Vista Belles come right after Lodi and are usually followed by William's Pride and Jersey Mac. Vista Belles are white fleshed apples offering tart flavor with hints of berries and a crisp crunch. William's Pride are sweet, spicy and crisp- a favorite early apple for fresh eating and pies. The Jersey Mac is an early McIntosh type, tart and tender. We are so excited to have Fiore olive oils and vinegars available at the farmstand now! Fiore is a Maine company offering fresh, ultra premium extra virgin olive oil (EVVO) and aged balsamic vinegars in an array of inticing flavors. The oils and vinegars available at the farmstand will change seasonally but each are made with only the finest ingredients and are all gluten-free! All oils and vinegars are available for sample before purchase!
Right now we are offering Mission, California EVVO and Tuscan Herb EVVO. We also have an Aged 12-year Balsamic and a Strawberry Balsamic Vinegar this season! Try the Strawberry Balsamic drizzled over Pietree's Zesty Salad Blend for a healthy and flavorful meal! Mix the Aged Balsamic with the Tuscan Herb EVVO for a truly tasteful bread dip! Dunham Farms' products are back at the farmstand this week! For our gluten-free customers we have an array of farm fresh baked breads. This weeks selection include Cinnamon Raisin, Sandwich, Rosemary, and Oatmeal. We also have pancake mix and frozen pizza dough to take and make at home!
Fresh, local dairy can be found at the farmstand now! We are proudly carrying Durgin Dairy, a small micro-dairy farm in Norway, Maine's, raw milk and whole milk yogurt. Not sure about raw milk? Oakhurst milk is available too! Casco Bay Butter is available in a range of flavors- from the traditional salted and unsalted to maple and caramel. We expect local eggs to hit our shelves soon!
Apples in June? Yes we do! Thanks to the plentiful harvest last season and for growing varieties that keep well in storage, we still have OUR apples available at the farmstand and at the markets! Varieties include Red Delicious (a favorite from childhood), Keepsake (an aromatic, spicy and sweet apple), Westfield Seek-No-Further (a balanced, honeyed, tart, and juicy apple), and Bottle Geening (a unique Heritage apple).
Fresh greens are oh-so-good this time of year! For the first time this season Pietree's Zesty Salad Blend will be available. Kale, Spinach, Chard, and Mustard are expected to be available through out the week in steady supply!
Wow! What a busy time here at Pietree. We are busy planting, harvesting, and weeding. The strawberry fields were weeded and we are hoping for a great crop this year! The beans and peas are planted for retail and pick-your-own! The cucumbers, herbs and broccoli is in the ground. A nice crop of kale and other greens were harvested from the greenhouse and we have been very busy installing irrigation. Let's hope for some rain!

The annual Food, Herb, and Beer Tour is this weekend and we are a stop! Join us both Saturday and Sunday, May 30th and 31st at 12pm! We will be demonstrating how to make a fresh herb pizza in our outdoor oven followed by a tour of the orchard (weather permitting). Specials on select merchandise for ticket holders too!
The Herb, Food and Beer Tour is an annual spring event available to those booking an Herb, Food and Beer Tour Lodging Package at one of eight member inns. Lodging packages include one or two night stays, herb-themed breakfasts each morning, two tickets to the Tour, and other individual inn options.
Tickets are available in advance by reserving a lodging package from participating inns.Those not wishing to reserve an overnight package may purchase tickets between select dates to be advised for $40 per person by calling 603-447-2818. Tickets may be picked up at Eastman Inn in North Conway on Saturday or Sunday.

The farmstand now has soup by the pound! Our soups are made with fresh ingredients sourced from our fields and other Maine farms whenever possible! Holidays call for candies and fudge! We have several fresh, homemade flavors of fudge this week. We have traditional chocolate walnut and for the more adventurous we have a lemon-almond fudge or a pistachio-cherry fudge! We have traditional, homemade Needhams- a chewy, potato-based coconut candy hand-dipped in dark chocolate! For the first time we have brought in organic candy canes, chocolates from Bixby & Co and caramels from McCrea's in flavors ranging from Truffle Sea Salt to Holiday Spice. Make sure to check out our candy collection this holiday season!
We continure to have a great selection of fall favorite foods in our farmstand. We have several types of potatoes, eight varieties of winter squash, popping corn, yacon, and Jerusalem artichokes available this week. Onions and garlic are still in great supply. From our greenhouse we have mixed salad greens and asian greens in limited quantities.
From the orchard this week we have a great selection of late-season and Heirloom apples. Pinova, Dudley Winter, Black Oxford, Empire, Cox Orange Pippin, Freyburg, and Stark's Jumbo is just a taste of the apple varieties available in our farmstand this week. We continue to have a great supply of the ever popular Cortland, Macintosh, and Macoun apples available.
People love our Roasted Garlic Sourdough so much we are featuring it another week. This bread has a crispy exterior and is baked outside in our wood-fired brick oven. The inside is soft and bursting with flavor form the gems of roasted Pietree garlic baked into it. Pair this bread with a hearty, fall soup or make a new twist on a grilled cheese!
We have the newest flavor of pietree granola out this week: Pumpkin Cranberry Ginger! This is a deliciously crunchy granola packed with pumpkin flavor, dried cranberries, crystallized ginger and pecans. Excellent with yogurt or over ice cream for a lovely fall treat!
