Yes, yes it IS very cold outside and not typical milkshake weather.....but if you are curled up in a cozy blanket on the couch in a warm house and craving a sweet treat, this easy Apple Pie Milkshake could be perfect!
This is based on the Apple Pie Smoothie recipe we posted a few weeks back, although admittedly not quite as healthy. You can make it as healthy as you choose with your ingredients.
Lightly sauté half of an apple, chopped (we used Rinette Simirenko as that was what was closest on hand) with a small pat of butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Place the apple in a blender with a couple of scoops of vanilla ice cream and about 1/2 cup of milk. (we used skim dairy to make it a bit lighter - you could certainly use almond, soy, coconut or whatever other variety you prefer.)
Blend to desired consistency. If you like, add a bit more cinnamon on top, perhaps a bit of whipped cream or even caramel sauce.....enjoy!!
