Apple Pie Smoothie

Happy New Year to all!!  We hope everyone had a lovely time celebrating the end of 2014 and anticipating all that 2015 may bring.

New Year's often brings about a time for resolutions and personal goal-setting.  For some of us, it inspires us to reset our eating habits a bit after holiday indulgences.  

This recipe for an Apple Pie Smoothie tastes like a sweet treat, but is actually super healthy.  A very basic recipe can be found here:, We have loosely used this base and added to it for a bit more substance.

Apple Pie Smoothie


In a blender, place a small handful of raw almonds and pulse until finely ground. Add a large cut apple of your choice.  (We used Black Oxford, but you can certainly use whatever you have on hand and enjoy the taste of.)  Add about 3/4 cup of greek yogurt (we used vanilla flavored), 1/2 cup of your choice of milk (we used almond milk with a hint of honey), a banana (optional), and about 1/2 tsp. of ground cinnamon.  Feel free to add any other spices, sweeteners, or fruits you like and feel would complement your drink.  Part of the fun of a smoothie is playing around with flavors to create your own specialty!  Blend all together until smooth and enjoy!!
