Fresh from the field this week we have eight varieties of winter squash available! Blue hubbard, butternut, acorn, delicata, sweet dumpling, spaghetti, and red kuri squash are all fresh and available in the farmstand this week. Choose your favorite for baking, stuffing, pureeing, or as a sweet filling for an autumn pie! We continue to have a great selection of other produce including chard, garlic, onions, radishes, green beans, peas, cucumbers, carrots, and a variety of peppers.
Fresh from the orchard this week we have a great selection of apples. The ever popular Cortland apple is ripe and available this week. With it's sweet, white flesh it's the perfect all purpose apple- great for eating fresh or baking. Honey Crisp apples are available and offer a sweet and tart taste with firm flesh making them the perfect dessert apple. Ginger Golds are excellent in salads, or fresh, offering a mild, sweet taste and spicy crunch. Red Gravenstein apples have a tart and juicy bite and are perfect for making pies, sauces, or cider. Other apple varieties available this week include Macintosh, Pristine, Dayton, and Crab Apples.
From the bakery this week we have delightfully sweet pumpkin whoopie pies made with cream cheese frosting and apple muffins with an oat streusel topping. Both of these treats are sold individually and are perfect paired with a cup of hot Carpe Diem tea after a cool and crisp day in the orchard picking apples! We have the ever popular light and airy rosemary focaccia bread available this week- an excellent dipper or dinner bread. We also have hearty loaves of maple-oat and honey-wheat bread fresh from the oven this week for making toast or sandwiches.
For Fall decorating we have colorful and decorative gourds, mums, and asters. We have small and large speciality gourds including birdhouse, speckled swan, and fancy pumpkins. From now until the end of the season our mums and asters on sale- buy four and get the fifth free! We have a hardy collection with many vibrant colors to choose from!
