Our fields are open for pick-your-own apples daily from 10am-4pm. Starting this Saturday, September 20th both Macintosh and Cortland apples will be available for PYO. Outside the farmstand we have a hay-maze, apple bean-bag toss, and animal growth chart for your family's enjoyment. Join us on the weekend and enjoy free wagon rides thorough our beautiful orchard with stunning mountain views. Picking apples at Pietree is always a memorable experience- come see us this fall for some old-fashioned fun!
Everyone has been asking about cider! We are happy to announce the first pressing will be this Friday, September 19th. The cider will not be in abundant supply for a couple of weeks; please call ahead if you are coming up for cider. Every Friday our orchardist, Scott Miller, will be pressing cider as the apples are available. The cider press is located next to our hay-maze and has a viewing window. If you are lucky enough to be here on a Friday when he is pressing make sure to take a peek inside to see the artist at work.
Fresh from the field this week we have Delicata and Sweet Dumpling squash! Both varieties are very sweet and excellent for stuffing and baking. We also have beautiful radishes and super sweet, crunchy sugar and snow peas. We still have an abundance of flavorful chard, onions, garlic, cucumber, carrots, and a variety of peppers from hot to sweet. We have a good selection of apples including Paula Reds and Daytons. We anticipate having a good peach supply until the end of the month.
We will have Blue Hubbard, Butternut, Red Kuri and many other varieties of squash in the days to come. We are excited to have our greenhouses in production growing a new crop of tomatoes, greens, and cucumbers! We hope to be able to offer these summer crops through out the fall and winter season.
The farmstand has been taking advantage of the apple harvest. We have apple blondies, apple-cranberry granola, apple crisp and other apple treats available. The bread selection changes daily. We offer everything from a light and airy focaccia to a flavorful and dense rustic olive boule. Take advantage of the samples offered daily to find your favorites! From 11:30am-3pm the farmstand offers wood-fired brick oven pizza. We top our pizzas with homemade sauce and farm fresh vegetables. Enjoy a pizza picnic outside the farmstand when you come up to visit!
