As the season progresses we have more and more fresh produce on our shelves. Fresh from the field this week we have our first harvest of green and yellow snap beans and pickling cucumbers. We have the start to a wonderful summer stir fry with plenty of green and red cabbage, sugar snap peas, broccoli and onions. Baby zucchini, kohlrabi, leeks and kale are all in good supply this week.
Our blueberries are plentiful and tasty this season. We offer pick-your-own blueberries daily from 10am to 2pm depending on weather and berry availability. We recommend calling our farmstand at (207) 647-9419 before heading up the hill to make sure our fields are open. For those that need a quick fix we have pints available in our farmstand.
Our bread of the week is Maple Oatmeal Bread. This is a soft vegan bread made with coconut oil, Maine Grain oats, Maine Grains wheat, white flour, and maple syrup. This bread makes this best french toast and is wonderful for sandwiches or toast.
Berries demand shortcake, so we made Vanilla Bean Yogurt Shortcakes. These sweet treats are made with greek yogurt from Tide Mill Creamery of Edmund, Maine, infused vanilla sugar and flecks of real vanilla bean. It is a wonderful base for fresh blueberries and whipped cream, or cook berries with a little sugar until they pop and pour over shortcake. Delicious!
Have you tried Casco Bay Butter? The butter is made in Maine from local milk and Maine Sea Salt. This week take 5% off any flavor of Casco Bay Butter: maple, honey, sea salt, salted caramel. Delicious with any type of bread, or the first-of-the-season corn on the cob. Find Casco Bay Butter in our freezer space in the farmstand.
