Wow! What a great beautiful week it has been here at Pietree!
Good color in the local foliage now, making for even more spectacular views and an even more memorable family or friend pick-your-own apples weekend!
We welcome John Tercyak back in concert Friday, October 4th from 12-3pm. John shares with us folk and family favorites, with a special program of Civil War Era folk music at 1pm. The music is free and heartening, the weather wonderful, and together they make for a great day at the orchard.
What’s picking right now?
On the conventionally grown side of the orchard, pick-your-own apple varieties are Macs and Cortlands. On the naturally grown side of the orchard, the apple variety currently open for picking is Cortland.
Yay! Pumpkins are in! We have a selection of decorative pumpkins by the fence and farmstand.
Pick-your-own is from 10am-4pm daily.
What’s at the farmstand?
Inside the farmstand, we have our lunchtime wood-fired oven pizzas (daily, 11:30am-3pm) and cider donuts (8am-4pm), other baked goods including pies, fresh pressed untreated artisan apple cider, ornamental gourds and decorative corn, mums, fresh vegetables, and many varieties of apples. Conventionally grown apple varieties in our farmstand: MacIntosh, Cortland, Macouns, Honeycrisp, Empire, GingerGold, Cox’s Orange Pippin, Starke, SnowSweet, and Pinova. Naturally grown apple varieties in our farmstand: Priam, Virginia Crabapples, Liberty, MacIntosh, and CrimsonCrisp. Of these varieties, Priam, Liberty, CrimsonCrisp, Starke, and Macouns are on the tart side. Apples that retain their shape in baking include: Cortland, Macoun, SnowSweet, CrimsonCrips, and Liberty.
The farmstand is open 8am-6pm daily.
What else can we do while we visit Pietree?
On Friday from 12-3pm, John Tercyak is in concert.
We have a Children’s Hay Maze (the walls are low).
Wagon rides are offered Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-4pm.
We have a pleasant seating area by our farmstand to look at the mountains and fall foliage and enjoy your pizza and cider.
Thank you for making a visit to Pietree Orchard part of your family’s autumn memories.
And, if you’re at the Fryeburg Fair this weekend, stop by the Garden Center and check out our apple display!
